Magnesium chloride hexahydrate, also known as hydrochlorite, chemical formula MgCl2 6H2O, molecular weight: 203.3. Colorless crystals, columnar or needle-like, with a bitter taste. It is easily soluble in water and ethanol, and easily deliquescent when the humidity is high. 116~118℃ hot melt decomposition. It is mixed with magnesium oxide and water to form magnesium cement. Reacts with alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxides.

Chemical properties: Magnesium oxide is an alkaline oxide, has the general properties of alkaline oxide, belongs to cementitious materials. Exposed to the air, easily absorb water and carbon dioxide and gradually become basic magnesium carbonate, light products faster than heavy products, combined with water to form magnesium hydroxide, a slightly alkaline reaction, the pH of saturated water solution is 10.3. Soluble in acids and ammonium salts insoluble in water, the solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol.
